Elle Halliwell

Founder, Auricle Ear Seeds & Journalist, Author, Health Coach, Inspirational Speaker, Master of Ceremonies

Elle Halliwell is a woman that wears many hats; she’s a journalist, author, health coach, inspirational speaker, master of ceremonies and a self-proclaimed ‘woman on a mission’. She is currently the Digital Editor, Luxury & Lifestyle – The Australian. Elle founded Auricle Ear Seeds in early 2020, a brand that produces gold-plated ear seeds which are nickel-free and made from ionised gold-plated metal alloy, backed with a clear, medical-grade adhesive tape which attaches it to the ear. She launched the brand following her own health journey after receiving a chronic blood cancer diagnosis in 2016.

The silver seeds are also nickel free and are composed of silver-plated metal alloy. The seeds, which are single use only, can be worn for two to four days depending on individual concerns and needs and the area of placement on the ear. Auricle ear seeds are a convenient acupressure tool for at-home use when needed and can be a complimentary therapy to traditional acupuncture in between appointments.

Elle is a certified health coach who studied an Advanced Diploma of Integrative Natural Health (naturopathy) at Nature Care College up until 2020. She also has a Certificate of Human Nutrition from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and studied Journalism at Macleay College in the early 2000’s. Elle’s life wasn’t all study and work. In Autumn 2016, she received a blood cancer diagnosis followed by two days later finding out she was pregnant with her first child. In mid-December that year, her health baby boy, Tor, was born. During her treatment, she built a strength-to-strength positive mindset which helped her to overcome hurdles that were thrown her way. She now uses her platform to raise awareness of rare blood cancers and working to prove that, with the right emotional tools, we can turn adversity into a superpower and become the best version of ourselves!

Spending time sharing her experiences and delivering inspiring keynote speeches in schools and at corporate events around the country is also something Elle does, covering topics such as overcoming adversity, managing anxiety, health living and the joys and complexities of motherhood.

In addition to this, Elle also works closely with the Cancer Council and The Leukemia Foundation to raise awareness for blood cancer. Her passion for the wellness industry and organic produce and low-tox products also saw her become the 2019 ambassador for the not-for-profit industry body, Australian Organic.

Looking to the future, Elle plans to further her education around auriculotherapy in Australia, stating “it’s a fascinating area and can really produce a beautiful healing response in the body thanks to its stimulation of our parasympathetic nervous system, AKA our body’s “rest and repair state” and ability to assist with regulating homeostasis (balance) in the body.” She hopes to combine her experience in auriculotherapy, naturopathy and coaching skills to offer a preventative, gentle approach to health.

She praises an investment in learning and continuous development. Whether it be reading thought-provoking books or completing a course or qualification, she says “I never feel content without feeling like I’m engaging in some form of mental growth. There’s so much knowledge in the world to soak up, and I feel like the more I learn, the more humble I become with the realisation that I know so little. It’s made me much less dogmatic about world issues, and I and I’m much more empathetic towards conflicting opinions.”

Elle states “success is so subjective. People would probably look at my career to date a say that when I was juggling a national radio show on Nova, editing a fashion column for the country’s top selling paper and covering entertainment for Weekend Today would have been my most successful period, but I was stressed and burnt out. For me, doing work which is fulfilling and challenging yet allows me the time and flexibility to spend time with loved ones and rest when I need is my idea of success. I feel that it’s super important to choose a path suited to your true self. For me, an aggressive reporting role simply didn’t suit my empathetic, gentle nature, and I feel that this discord ultimately manifested in illness. If you’re an adventure-seeker who loves adrenaline and activity, for example, getting an accounting degree and spending decades in an office cubicle is not going to be a fulfilling career path.”

Her message to her 20-year-old self is that “so far, you’ve survived every bad day you thought you’d never get through, so your odds of surviving the next one are pretty high.” She believes it’s important to take care of your health, and start meditating, because these ‘two things help reduce the noise from outside and help you hear the guidance from your inner voice’. Lisa Messenger is someone that Elle has looked up to, believing that she is incredibly successful in her business (Lisa is the Founder and CEO of Collective Hub).
